Agnico Eagle Mining
In 1953, five struggling mining companies joined together to become Cobalt Consolidated Mining, which would last until 1957, when the company changed its name to Agnico Mines. “Agnico” is derived from the periodic table of elements using the symbols for silver (Ag), nickel (Ni) and cobalt (co).
Agnico Eagle grew from a single-operation gold producer to a much larger company consisting of numerous mines in the early twenty first century, and was one of the first to conduct operations on Mars, and later the Asteroid Belt.
It additionally has offworld holdings on Luna, and several other moons, some of them currently for exploration purposes only. It is currently believed to be developing underwater technology for explorations on Encheladus and Europa.
